Rileys 'A' v Nuneaton Town

What a match this turned out to be!!! With some highs an lows, the game started about 1930, by 20:30 we was 6-3 up and cruising. Captain Danny Barr (if I say so myself was in awesome form) leading by example with a comfortable win. Next up was the ever reliable Chicco, showing some excellent shot selection when beating J. Beesley with ease. (one mans junk is another's mans treasure!!!! Thanks Mr Evans). New signings Kev Balding and Wayne Ison came to the table next and by the way they played you would have thought they had been playing Interleague for a long time with two exceptional performances. The next
winning player to the table was Paul Barnett, at one stage it looked like he was going to be seven balled, but an unlikely miss by his opponent let Paul in, with some great safety play and a well taken clearance Paul won his game. Up next stepped Dave Williamson, he also won his match quite comfortably. The players who lost can count themselves unlucky on another night it might of gone there way. Mick McCool snookered himself on the dish. Sam Howkins pulling off an impossible safety, only thing was it was his last ball he needed. with the black over the bottom bag Sam was fucked to be fair. Bec's played well but in the end, out done by her opponent. That was the half way stage. 6 - 3 up and looking good.

Then the turning point of the game came, there captain decided to play on one table. Good tactics or bad sportsmanship you decide, I choose the latter (controversial) as there were nine tables free. Up stepped The Claw, and Rileys had four!!! unfortunately 'Claw' couldn't produce the goods I know he is capable of. Then we went on a free fall, losing 4 on the bounce. Mr Ison the most unfortunate. (Wayne it is skill just to hit the black 10 times around the table and watch it go in. I've done it millions of times) anyway that made it 8 7 to them. Then Captain Marvellous stepped up to win. Two games in one night normally unheard... They must of known it was my birthday the next day. 8 -8, next up was Magical Mick McCool, he put up a great fight but was unfortunate to rattle his last ball but at the same time move the black into an easy potable position for his opponent.  9-8 down then came the game of the night. The old fox of the team, Mr Dave (there's never any pressure) Williamson, showing everyone how to grind out a result even if it looks like you have no right to win. Dave showed some great safety play until he eventually got his opponent to commit suicide. Dave pushed his opponent into a corner, then came the best safety shot ever from his opponent. Potting a table length black, even though he had two of his own balls remaining.

Strange shot selection but we aren't moaning 9-9 end result. Good game good night. thanks to all the players for showing up..
