Warwickshire Bears v  Warwickshire 'A'

Back to Menu

With the two Warwickshire Teams going head-to-head again for the second time this year, Warwickshire ‘B’ would be looking to do a lot better than the first time around.

With the first section ending really close, Warwickshire ‘B’ took the advantage of a slow start from the ‘A’ side and raced into a 5-2 lead, with wins from James ‘Wicked’ Willis, Jake Oswin, Ryan Mandara, Tom Woolman and Michael Meaney. Dan Payne and Vivek Makh got the two frames for the Wark’s ‘A’. The last 4 frames of the first section all went to Wark’s ‘A’ as Nick Bailie, Richard Johnson, Luke Mills and Jamie Hobby, ended Wark’s ‘B’ winning run, winning the section 6-5.

Wins from Dan Payne, Luke Barnes, Vivek, Ryan Shaw, Conor Tracey, Richard, Luke Mills, Jamie, Nick and Luke Cowap gave the ‘A’ side a comfortable 10-1 in the section section. Ryan Mandara from the ‘B’ team was the only winner in that section.

The third section was the same as the second, a 10-1 victory for the ‘A’ team with wins from, Luke Barnes, Ryan, Lewis Deeley, Phil Parkin, Vivek, Jamie, Richard, Nick, Luke Cowap and Luke Mills. As from the last section, Ryan Mandara again was the only winner in the section for the ‘B’ team as he kept his 100% record going against Wark’s ‘A’ in this match.

Unfortunately, Ryan didn’t win his final 4th frame of the day, but put in a fine performance. James Willis from the ‘B’ team started the 4th section off to a good start for them, but it wasn’t to last as Wark’s ‘A’ won the next 7 frames, won by Dan Payne, Luke Barnes, Vivek, Jamie, Ryan, Phil and Luke Cowap. With Steve Martin winning another frame for the ‘B’ team, Richard and Nick won the last 2 frames of the day for the ‘A’ winning the 4th and final section, 9-2.

After the match Terry Parkin (Wark’s ‘A’ Manager) said:

The score did not reflect the match. Warwickshire ‘B’ came out here and were determined to beat us today. They gave us a scare at the start going 5-2 up, but they just didn’t have the run of the balls today. After the first section, we knew what we had to do. Wark’s ‘B’ didn’t stop fighting from start to finish which is what I like to see from every team. We didn’t start supporting each other enough in the first section, which saw us struggle to start going and winning frames, once we started supporting more, we won frames. Good result lads, but need to support more, if we are to qualify for Great Yarmouth in March.

Paul Willis (Wark’s ‘B’ Manager) also added:

Yes, as Terry said, the score doesn’t reflect the play today, there were a load of chances in frames that we could have won, but we just didn’t have the luck on the table and that’s pool for you. We knew what was expected from them and we started well, but in the end it was too much and they raced ahead. We have a great bunch of lads that are willing to play and support, that’s what you need in a team to succeed.
