'A' Team
Warwickshire ‘A’ were looking for a better result than the 24-20 they got in the away fixture earlier this year against Northamptonshire Youth.
Warwickshire ‘A’ got off to the perfect start winning the first section comfortably 10-1 as Dan Brandon, Jamie Hobby, Phil Parkin, Luke Cowap, Luke Barnes, Luke Mills, Richard Johnson, Nick Bailie, Lewis Deeley and Dan Payne won all their first matches.
Second section was a lot harder as Northamptonshire started hitting back at us. The section ended 6-5 to Wark’s ‘A’ but could have been more as we lost some costly frames. Jamie, Phil, Luke Barnes, Vivek Makh, Richard and Lewis Deeley won Wark’s ‘A’s 6 frames from that tight and hard-fought section.
Third section was a lot better as the team started supporting more and ended the section with a 9-2 win. Wins from Jamie, Phil, Luke Cowap, Luke Mills, Vivek, Richard, Nick, Lewis and Dan Payne helped win the section. The score so far was 25-8 to Wark’s ‘A’ and had won the match, but frames still counted.
Wark’s ‘A’ took the foot off the peddle and struggled in the 4th section, just like the second section. It was a twist and turned section, with Wark’s ‘A’ just coming out 6-5 winners, with Dan Brandon, Luke Cowap, Luke Barnes, Vivek, Nick and Dan Payne getting the 6 frames to win the section.
FINAL RESULT:- Warwickshire ‘A’ 31-13 Northamptonshire
Warwickshire ‘A’ Man of the Match:- LEWIS DEELEY
Northamptonshire Man of the Match:- NATHAN IRONS
Warwickshire ‘A’ 4/4 – NONE
3/4 – Jamie, Phil, Luke C, Luke B, Vivek, Richard, Nick, Lewis and Dan P
After the match, Terry Parkin said:
That was a better performance on the table than when we played them at their place (Northampton) last time, but off the table, still there isn’t enough support to get us to win Great Yarmouth. We need to be much louder than that lads, support helps. Anyway on the positive side, well done for the result and for the lads who won 4/4, very good. We have one more game left against Worcestershire away and will be just as tough, so we need to put in a good performance to guarantee a place at the Inter-County Finals next March.
