Worcestershire v Warwickshire June 3rd
There was an air of anticipation in the Ladies team as Warks looked to secure their first win of the season.
The Girls got off to a brilliant start by taking the 1st section 7-4, however, Worcester took the 2nd section 6-5 to reduce Warks lead to just 12-10.
Warwickshire turned the tables in section 3 with a 6-5 win to give them an 18-15 advantage going into the final straight.
“A piece of Piss” would best describe the B team’s match as they tore Worcestershire B apart.
They won the 1st section 8-3 and the 2nd section 9-2 to put them 17-5 in front, requiring just 6 more frames to win at the halfway stage.
The lads took the 3rd section 6-5 with Dave Collins making it 22-10 and Scott Varden getting the match winner at 23-10. Warks won the final section 8-3 to give them a 31-13 win overall.
Russ Blinco, Rob Butterworth and Scott Varden all won 4 out of 4 with the Man of the match trophy being awarded to Rob. (pictured)

“It’s time to put on make up, it’s time to light the lights …… “ Not a good day for Warwickshire’s Mens A team as they watched all hope of getting to next year’s county finals disappear down the pan as they got hammered by Worcestershire. (See Pic of a disappointed 'A' on their way back from Worcester.... Nice hat Chappers!!)
A narrow defeat 6-5 in the 1st section didn’t start the alarm bells ringing, but Warks lost the 2nd section 7-4 to give Worcester a 13-9 lead overall.
Another 7-4 loss in the 3rd section signalled the writing on the wall as Worcs went 20-13 in front and the walked the last section 9-2 to end up winning 29-15 overall.
Roger Hunt and Keith “MANK” Garner both got 3 out of 4, but I can’t remember who got man of the match. Mind You, judging by that score line, I wouldn’t want to be reminded of it!
Team: Paul Willis, Nige Griffiths, Martin Kirby, Keith Garner, Lee Steptoe, Chicken Randle, Baz Hinde, Chappers, Ian Jones, Paul Mason and Roger Hunt.
Disaster struck as Worcester won 5 straight frames to go 20-18 in front. Wendy Forde pulled one back for Warks and Liz Cheetham & Jo McLaughlin followed suit to give the Girls a 21-20 lead.
Kirsty Campbell’s 4 out of 4 got put on hold when Givvi Flynn pulled out “the dish of her life” to level the score at 21-21. Sara Brennan ensured Warks of the draw, but Katie Bonham narrowly lost out in the final frame to draw the match and leave Warks Ladies still searching for that illusive first win.
Jo Mac won 4 out of 4 to get Player of the match whilst there were 3 out of 4’s from Kirsty, Liz and Sara.
Team: Wendy Forde, Trina Masterson, Lorna Kernaghan, Tor Andrews, Cat Jarvis, Liz Cheetham, Jo McLaughlin, Katie Bonham, Sara Brennan, Kirsty Campbell and Ali Wilkins.
