Rob Butterworth was a hero of the U21's in the team event. His 1st major tournament was a little nervous at the beginning, but as the games progressed he got into the groove. In the semi- final, against Ireland he took all 3 of his frames  (3 sections of 5 games) as his last frame won it for the team. In the final, against Wales he still held his nerve & won all 3 again including the match winning frame.

Even though Rob was in the under 21's team, he automatically enters the men's singles. In the first round he played David McQuillan (Ireland) & won 6-2. A closer game in the second, winning 6-5 to Scott Rudkin (Spain), but in the third round he was overcome by Sam Wintle (Wales) 4-6.

Being his 1st major he thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the time there and couldn't believe how well he performed.

Phil Parkin played in the U18's team, winning 5 out of 6 games on the first day, against Channel Islands & Northern Ireland. Unfortunately on Wednesday Phil became ill, despite this he managed to play his first round of singles, but lost 5-1 to his England vice captain Jack Pople. As the day progressed Phil got worse and he pulled out of the team event, he went to the doctors and was told he had severe tonsillitis. England Junior team went on to beat Ireland in the final. His trophy was sent to him by Judi Collins (England Team Manager).

Rob seems a tad excited about something?
